Winter (Snow) Retreat

We're looking forward to January 18-20, 2020.

We had a special guest in 2014: John Muir

Each January, on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, we hold our Winter Retreat. This retreat is a time for fellowship, and fun. We play games, tackle puzzles, sing, watch amusing videos, but make sure there is time for quiet contemplation and worship. If the weather has blessed us, a short drive from the Conference Center will take us to great snow play.

The retreat is held at the Episcopal Conference Center near Oakhurst, California, or "ECCO". ECCO is a very comfortable facility, not far from the South Entrance to Yosemite National Park. Although snow play areas can be found a short drive from there the Conference Center is at a low enough elevation to be snow-free except in the most exceptional years. Accomodations are motel-type rooms, sleeping two to four. Each room has its own bath facilities. Meals are served buffet style in a beautiful dining hall; we often share the room with another group, but mealtimes are the only times we encounter them. Sack lunches are packed for us, allowing us to roam during the day.

Our group gets separate large meeting rooms where we can spread out for our activities. A trip into Yosemite is often undertaken for those who desire.
